Readers,
You may remember we are taking a detour from our normal architecture programming to run a voter mobilization campaign by printing some fabulous yard signs.
After receiving some fantastic submissions from our community and running a multi-part design competition, we are happy to announce we have selected 7 designs to screen print, and they are already in production.
We are also thrilled to share we have found a get-out-the-vote organization in Pennsylvania, ‘Better Civics’, to distribute the signs in a swing state. Nicolas drove to Philadelphia and dropped off the first batch of 80 last Friday and the organizer said she liked them so much she would keep a copy of each sign to hang on their organization’s office wall.
For those not sure what screen-printing involves, a83 made a plate, or ‘screen’, for each color, and then hand-applied ink to every single piece of corrugated plastic. See the plate for one of the signs above, and a movie here. Indeed these may be the nicest, most finely crafted yard signs ever made. And for this election, the extra effort is worth it.
To secure one for yourself please order here. We have limited supplies and will prioritize orders to those who have (or plan to) volunteer for a campaign, and those who make donations, so we can print more signs for the organization Better Civics.
And for those who have already ordered, we plan to start shipping them today!
